Who we are looking for

State Street IMS is seeking a full-time Senior Cobol developer to support the Investment Book of Records development team. The candidate will lead/manage development projects required to support existing and new functionality for our in-house suite of applications written in Cobol.

Responsibilities will include hands-on development, coaching/leading analysts and developers to architect high-end solutions, overseeing the creation and execution of test plans according to State Street's published Development Process Framework. Additionally, the candidate will engage in a leadership role for our production support team.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for

As Senior Cobol Developer/Project Lead you will

  • Work on complex, deadline driven projects with minimal supervision.
  • Work on multiple projects on a monthly release cycle.
  • Provide technical expertise in analyzing, designing, estimating, and developing software application with minimum requirements.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise in reviewing, analyzing, and resolving complex issues.
  • Ensure testing coverage and documentation is complete for each software release.
  • Handle release weekend support and production support.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 15+ years of experience as a Senior Cobol Developer/Project Lead.
  • Experience with Fujitsu NetCobol or MicroFocus Cobol desired.
  • Solid experience with relational databases required (Sybase a plus).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and strong team collaboration skills.
  • Possesses the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience testing software designed for elaborate business scenarios.
  • Aptitude for learning new things and flexibility to adapt and follow guidelines.

Additional requirements

  • MQ, UNIX and UNIX shell scripting required.
  • Experience in the financial industry with knowledge of trade flow and corporate actions a plus.

Salary Range:

$130,000 - $212,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
