Job Description:

• Client IMS is seeking a Senior Cobol developer to support a Fujitsu Cobol 64-bit Upgrade for our Investment Book of Records application. The candidate will make all enhancements required to migrate our existing software to 64-bit and execute it in a Windows/Linux environment. The modifications to the Batch System will also require migration of scripts from Solaris to Linux.
• Responsibilities will include creation of technical specifications, hands-on development, creating test plans according to client published Development Process Framework and providing production support.

Qualifications:

• The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 10 years of experience as a.Senior Cobol Developer.
• Experience with Fujitso NetCobol or MicroFocus Cobol a big plus
• Unix, Unix shell scripting, and Linux experience required.
• Experience with relational databases required (Sybase a plus).
• Experience with Autosys desired.
• Solid experience in full software development cycle, including application architecture, technical specs, analysis, software development, testing large-scale software applications, assisting SQA teams with UAT testing, and production support.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication and excellent team collaboration skills.
• Good project management skills.
• Possesses the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience testing software designed for elaborate business scenarios.
• Aptitude for learning new things and flexibility to adapt and follow guidelines.

3-5 "nice to have" attributes:

• Ability to describe the ecosystem of applications, especially those immediately upstream and downstream of the candidate's application.
• Ability to describe a complex application functionality that the candidate was responsible for designing, coding and implementing.
• Ability to architect a future enhancement (based primarily around data transmission between two entities) and "sell" it to the interviewer.

Top three must-haves:

• Ability to communicate in detail the candidate's role in current and former projects.
• Ability to describe in detail how the candidate goes about Requirement Gathering and interaction with Technical/Business Analysts and other development staff.
• Ability to explain/describe an existing implementation of Autosys

Software skills is an absolute must have:

• Autosys experience (Must have)
• SQL (Must have)
• Unix/Linux (Must have)
• Word/Excel/Visio (Nice to have)
• SFTP and/or MQ (Nice to have)
