Robert Half Technology is looking for a Programmer Analyst to join the Application Support team for our client in Wisconsin.

The Programmer Analyst will be working on escalated tickets related to Cobol, JCL, and CICS systems. Looking for a person who will work closely with the Lead IT Support Specialist and will take over responsibilities like mentoring, onboarding, technical lead on projects, managing JIRA boards, support work, on-call, and managing of on-call rotation. The ideal individual will have experience leading a project or team.  

The Programmer Analyst is responsible for assisting in providing first on-call support for supported software applications, on-call support rotation, validation, maintenance, and project work for supported systems. The Programmer Analyst will troubleshoot, resolve, and document tasks when issues arise with supported systems. 

This is a contract role that could lead to permanent hire for the right individual.

What you get to do every day

- Helps develop communication content for particular system changes being implemented in production

- Build and assess programming changes for every phase of systems development prior to implementation. Record test cases and expected results. Ensure results meet requirements. May develop basic tests or a defined subset of a larger system test. May make suggestions regarding acceptance/rejection if not all requirements are met

- Examines user requests for changes or improvements to systems. Writes functional requirements and assesses cost, feasibility and utility. Makes recommendations about how, when or whether to make the changes

- Trains and assists end users and other partner groups for a particular application, system or process, on an ongoing basis

- Evaluates and records problems. Collaborates with other programmers to fix issues with code

- Builds and maintains dictionaries for applications and systems support by the analyst

- Guides internal clients on applications, systems and/or processes for identifying and resolving, processing/reporting programming problems. Provides consultation through troubleshooting and/or education

- Evaluates methods of processing. Makes suggestions for improvements
