Job Description:

The Mainframe Developer/Software Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the role include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.  This role codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.  Familiar with development and testing practices.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements.

  • Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.

  • Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.

  • Peer reviews code to ensure code aligns to approved design and coding best practices.

  • Integral scrum team member, interacting with Feature Lead, Scrum Master, and Developers.

  • Responsible for release activities and code migration tasks.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in Mainframe, CICS, COBOL, MQ Series, CA7/11, IBM MVS/OS operating system, IDZ, IBM JCL, VSAM, EASYTRIEVE.

  • Experience using Source Code and Version Control systems like Endevor.

  • Ability to work in Agile development process and deep understanding of different phases of Software Development Life Cycle.

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to break down complex problems/ideas and come-up with creative solutions.

  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple projects in-parallel and be able to work independently in addition to contributing as part of a highly collaborative team.

  • Effectively communicates with managers, peers and business partners on deliverables, timelines and support needed.
