This involves writing efficient, scalable, and maintainable code.Testing and debugging: Conducting thorough testing of COBOL programs to ensure they function correctly and meet the specified requirements. Identifying and resolving any issues or bugs that arise during testing.Maintenance and enhancements: Providing ongoing maintenance and support for existing COBOL applications. This includes analyzing and resolving production issues, implementing enhancements and modifications, and ensuring the overall stability and performance of the applications.Collaboration: Collaborating with other members of the development team, such as database administrators and system analysts, to integrate COBOL applications with other systems and databases. Working closely with business analysts and end-users to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.Documentation: Documenting all development activities, including program specifications, coding changes, and testing results. Ensuring that code is well-documented and easy to understand for future maintenance and enhancement purposes.Adherence to standards: Following coding standards, best practices, and industry guidelines to ensure high-quality code and maintainable applications. Adhering to security and compliance standards in application development.Troubleshooting and support: Assisting in troubleshooting and resolving issues reported by end-users or the support team.
