The State of New Jersey’s Administrative Office of the Courts (NJAOC) is seeking an IBM COBOL Programmer to analyze, design, code, and component and assembly test all application code owned by the application team. The ideal candidate will possess 8+ years of COBOL/CICS/DB2 coding, testing, and debugging, 8+ years of experience with IBM OS/JCL (MVS), and 8+ years of experience with DB2 stored procedures.

Required Skills/Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience with COBOL/CICS/DB2 coding, testing, and debugging
  • 8+ years of experience with IBM OS/JCL (MVS)
  • 8+ years of experience with CICS

  • 8+ years of experience with usability testing and system testing of programs

Complete Description

The State of New Jersey’s Administrative Office of the Courts (NJAOC) is seeking an IBM COBOL Programmer to analyze, design, code, and component and assembly test all application code owned by the application team. The ideal candidate will possess 8+ years of COBOL/CICS/DB2 coding, testing, and debugging, 8+ years of experience with IBM OS/JCL (MVS), and 8+ years of experience with DB2 stored procedures.

This role will be required to collaborate and provide technical expertise to the ITO and ATCSU unit to develop a technical solution to implement business/system requirements. This position will be under the direct supervision of a Project Manager for the AOC’s Information Technology Office (ITO) or other designated ITO representative.

The IBM COBOL Programmer will be tasked to:

  • Analyze, design, code, and component and assembly test all application code owned by the application team
  • Collaborate and provide technical expertise to develop a technical solution to implement business/system requirements
  • Develop and receive program specification requirements to describe the coding to be done
  • Deliver new or modified programs, unit test work, develop supportive documentation, and participate with users in system testing their programs
  • Demonstrate expertise with database conversions
  • Perform coding, testing, and debugging of programs written in COBOL/CICS/DB2
  • Work with IBM OS/JCL (MVS) and IBM/DB2
  • Extract and document business rules extract from COBOL/DB2 programs
  • Perform usability testing
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with technical and non-technical personnel
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Criminal/Probation system and Judiciary applications
